WILLIAM SPRAGUE SIGNED CUT SIGNATURE, "Wm. Sprague, R.I.", 5 x 2, bold ink signature of U.S. Civil War General at the First Battle of Bull Run, 27th Governor of Rhode Island ('boy governor'), Civil War Senator, and son-in-law of Salmon Chase the Secretary of Treasury. In fine condition.  

William Sprague IV (1830-1915) was the 27th Governor of Rhode Island from 1860 to 1863, and U.S. Civil War Senator from 1863 to 1875. He participated in the First Battle of Bull Run during the American Civil War while he was a sitting Governor.
