William Bradford Shockley Jr. (1910-89) Signed Ensemble, "For Hans P. Nielson Wm. Shockley, 3 Dec 60", on 4.5 x 2.5 slip enclosed in a protective cellophane envelope and mounted on an original collector's display sheet, 8.5 x 10, with a short biographical note printed at the top, by the American physicist and inventor. Shockley was the manager of a research group at Bell Labs that included John Bardeen and Walter Brattain. The three scientists were jointly awarded the 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for "their researches on semiconductors and their discovery of the transistor effect". This attractive, signed collector's ensemble is in fine condition.
