WILLIAM DAVID COOLIDGE (1873-1975) SIGNED CARD, “Very sincerely yours, W. D. Coolidge, July 2, 1926, Schenectady, N.Y.”, on a card 4.25 x 3.5, by the American physicist and engineer who made major contributions to X-Ray machines and was director of General Electric Research Laboratory. He was also famous for the development of “ductile tungsten” which is important for the incandescent light bulb. He invented the Coolidge tube, an x-ray tube with an improved cathode for use in x-ray machines that allow for more intense visualization of deep seated anatomy and tumors and was a major development of the then-nascent medical specialty of radiology. The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
