THOMAS CHROWDER CHAMBERLIN (1843-1928) SIGNED CARD, “Yours Very Truly, T. C. Chamberlin”, on a card 4 x 2.5, by the American geologist known primarily as a glacialist and educator who founded and edited the Journal of Geology (1893), was the chief geologist for the Wisconsin Geological Survey, was president of the University of Wisconsin (1887-92), in 1892 he accepted the offer to organize a department of geology at the new University of Chicago, where he remained as professor until 1918, was the president of the Chicago Academy of Sciences (1898-1914), and was recognized for his expertise regarding the glacial periods of North America. His publication The Origin of the Earth (1916), was an explanation of his “planetesimal” hypothesis regarding the formation of planets. The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
