THEODOR NOLDEKE SIGNED NOTE, “Th. Noldeke, Strasbourg, 2/8/1907”, short note about sending his autograph, on a card 4 x 2.5 with small photo, by the German orientalist and scholar whose research interests ranged over Old Testament studies, Semitic languages and Arabic, Persian and Syriac literature. He was a long-time professor and the University of Strasbourg. He was a prolific author of books and articles, including: “The History of the Qur’an”, “Life of Muhammad”, and “Sketches from Eastern History”. The Noldeke Chronology is a “canonical ordering” of the 114 suras of the Qur’an according to the sequence of revelation, and is intended to aid theological, literary, and historical scholarship of Qur’anic exegesis by enhancing structural coherence. The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
