JOHN J. SIRICA (1904-92) SIGNED NIXON/WATERGATE SCANDAL TYPESCRIPT, “John J. Sirica”, 1 pg., 8.5 x 11, by the United States district judge of the U. S. District Court in Washington, D.C. who became famous for his role in the trials stemming from the Watergate scandal. The typescript, in part: “…My initial suspicions that no one but top party leaders could have authorized the burglary were proved true by President Nixon’s own tapes. And although our nation went through a trauma which could easily have led to a severe constitutional crisis, I believe the United States is stronger…Had there been no Watergate, wealthy contributors might…buying favor with elected officials…Had there been no Watergate, it is unlikely that we would have seen the tremendous increase in the public scrutiny of federal official’ conduct…Had there been no Watergate, Congress would probably not even be discussing public financing of federal election campaigns…Most important, Watergate, unlike any previous scandal in our political history, was both a crisis and a reaffirmation of our constitutional form of government…it was a product of…greed for power.” In fine condition.
