$300.00

Description

SIR MICHAEL FOSTER (1836-1907) SIGNED QUOTE, “M. Foster”, on a card 4.5 x 2.25, by the English physiologist (a branch of biology that deals with the normal functions of living organisms and their parts) who held the chair in physiology at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he had a very large share in the organization and development of the Cambridge biological school. He was in Parliament (1901-6) and was also secretary of the Royal Society, in which capacity he exercised a wide influence in the study of biology in Britain. His chief writings were a Textbook of Physiology (1876), which became a standard work, and Lectures on the History of Physiology During the 16th, 17th, and 18th Centuries (1901). Foster was also the binomial author of many iris species. His handwritten quote, in full: “If you want a thing done the right way, the way you want it done, you must do it yourself.” The quote is boldly written and signed and the card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
