SAMUEL F. B. MORSE (1791-1872) PARTIAL HANDWRITTEN LETTER SIGNED, “In greatest haste but with/Sincere respect & esteem/Yr. Ob.Servt./Saml. F. B. Morse”, on a 5 x 2.75 slip mounted to acid free backing card, written to Dr. E. H. Champlin [Morse did an oil painting in 1815 of Margaret Grant Champlin that is now in the San Francisco Museum collection], by the American painter, inventor of the single wire telegraph and Morse Code which would become the primary language of telegraphy. In fine condition, with two chipped corners affecting the tips of two letters, minor age toning. Nice association with the part of his career as a painter.
