SALOMON REINACH (1858-1932) SIGNED QUOTE, “Salomon Reinach, 26 Oct. 1918”, on a card 4.25 x 3.5, by the French archaeologist and religious historian who made valuable archaeological discoveries at the necropolis at Myrina, Cyme, Thasos, Imbros, Carthage, Menix, Odessa, and elsewhere. He was a prolific author of at least 90 lengthy works and at least 7000 articles and wrote extensively in areas of philology, archaeology, and art history. He was also the curator of the French national museums and co-editor of the Revue Archeologique. His handwritten quote, in French, is written just a few months after the end of WWI, fully translated: “The safety of the world requires that science should be brought under international control and bound to the works of peace.” The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
