HE WAS THE FIRST ASIAN TO RECEIVE A NOBEL PRIZE IN ANY BRANCH OF SCIENCE AND HE MADE MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS IN ACOUSTICS AND OPTICS. HIS FIRST PHENOMENAL DISCOVERY OF THE PHYSICS OF LIGHT WAS THE BLUE COLOR OF SEAWATER.
