Description
Patrick Maynard Stuart Blackett, Baron Blackett OM CH FRS (1897-1974) Signed Ensemble, "P. M. S. Blackett", blue ink, on a 5 x 3 "Imperial College of Science and Technology, London" letterhead memo sheet enclosed in a protective cellophane envelope and mounted on an original collector's display sheet, 8.5 x 10, with a short biographical note printed at the top, by the British experimental physicist known for his work on cloud chambers, cosmic rays, and paleomagnetism, winning the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1948. He became the first person to deliberately transmute one element into another. He was the author of several books on atomic weapons and was named a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1933 and as it's president in1965. Comes with a printed memo on "Imperial College" letterhead: "With the Compliments of Professor P. M. S. Blackett". The printed memo and this attractive, signed collector's ensemble are in fine condition, with minor age toning.
