DELANY, PATRICK B. SIGNED QUOTE, INVENTOR TELEGRAPH RELATED, THOMAS EDISON

$275.00

Description

FOR MANY YEARS HE WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THOMAS EDISON. A NEWSPAPER FEATURE COVERAGE IN 1909 CALLED HIM “THE WORLDS GREATEST TELEGRAPH EXPERT AND INVENTOR”. HERE HE HANDWRITES A SUCCINCT SUMMARY OF HIS LIFE’S PHILOSOPHY: “IF YOU HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO, WORRY AS HARD AS YOU CAN.”

PATRICK BERNARD DELANY (1845-1924) SIGNED QUOTE, “Patrick B. Delany”, on a card 4 x 2.75, by the Irish-American electrician and inventor whose first patent, related to telegraph relays, and was later discovered that his patent could be used as an alternative technology to challenge Western Union Telegraph Company’s monopoly on telegraph relays. His later inventions included more than 150 patents registered in the U. S. by 1922. Almost all relate to telegraphy in some way: automatic systems for ocean cables, synchronous multiplex telegraphy to send six messages simultaneously over one wire, and rapid machine telegraphy for land lines. His automatic telegraph system was capable of transmitting and recording 3000 words a minute over a single wire. His handwritten quote, in full: “If you have nothing else to do, worry as hard as you can.” The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
