HE IS BEST KNOWN FOR HIS NUMEROUS PATENTS INCLUDING A MEANS OF GREATLY EXTENDING THE RANGE OF LONG-DISTANCE TELEPHONE COMMUNICATIONS BY PLACING LOADING COILS (OF WIRE) AT PREDETERMINED INTERVALS ALONG THE TRANSMITTING WIRE (KNOWN AS PUPINIZATION). HE WAS ALSO A FOUNDING MEMBER OF NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR AERONAUTICS (NACA) WHICH LATER BECAME NASA. IN 1924 HE WON A PULITZER PRIZE FOR HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY FROM IMMIGRANT TO INVENTOR (1923).

MIHAJLO IDVORSKI PUPIN (1854-1935) SIGNED CARD, “M. I. Pupin, Norfolk, Conn., Aug. 29, 1904”, on a card 4.25 x 2.75, by the Serbian physicist, physical chemist, and philanthropist based in the United States. The importance of Pupin’s 1899 patent for loading coils was made clear when the American rights to it were acquired by AT&T, making him wealthy. The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
