Mary Ingraham Bunting (1910 – 1998) Typed Letter Signed, "Mary I. Bunting", 7 x 8, on “United States Atomic Energy Commission, Washington” letterhead, July 15, 1964, by the influential American Radcliffe College's fifth president (1960); November 3, 1961 Time Magazine cover story; was responsible for fully integrating women into Harvard University; microbiologist; Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; President Lyndon Johnson elected her as the first woman to serve on the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. In part: “My apologies for having been so slow in acknowledging your friendly letter which did reach me at Radcliffe during a very busy period….” Comes with the original “Atomic Energy Commission” mailing envelope. Both items are in fine condition, with minor age toning and staple hole on both at top left.
