Description

Mary Ingraham Bunting (1910 – 1998) Typed Letter Signed, "Mary I. Bunting", 5.5 x 8.5, on “Radcliffe College, Cambridge 38, Massachusetts, Office of the President” letterhead, May 2, 1961, by the influential American Radcliffe College's fifth president (1960); November 3, 1961 Time  Magazine cover story; was responsible for fully integrating women into Harvard University; microbiologist; Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; President Lyndon Johnson elected her as the first woman to serve on the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. In part: “Thank you very much for your greetings and your encouragement. I am very happy…statement concerning the Radcliffe Institute for Independent Study.” Comes with the original “Radcliffe College” mailing envelope. Both items are in fine condition, with minor age toning, staple hole on both at top left, and paperclip impression at top of letter.
