LANGSTON HUGHES signed book: The Big Sea. NY: Hill and Wang, 1963. Softcover, 5.25 x 8, 335 pages. Signed and inscribed in green ink on the front free end page, "For Jarratt Applewhite, Sincerely, Langston Hughes, Nov. 21, 1965." In fine condition, with light rubbing and soiling, a few light bends to covers, and pencil notation to signed page.

LANGSTON HUGHES (1902-67) renouned negro novelist, poet, social activist and playwright who is best know as a leader of the Harlem Renaissance in New York City, which was a cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem, NY in the 1920's. In this  signed copy of his autobiography Langston Hughes recounts those memorable years in the two great playgrounds of the decade - Harlem and Paris.
