JULIA WARD HOWE (1819-1910) HANDWRITTEN LETTER SIGNED, "Julia Ward Howe", 5 x 8, 241 Beacon St. Boston, April 19th, 1904, to Mr. Johnson at Century Magazine, by the writer, lecturer, abolitionist, co-founder of American Woman Suffrage Association, and author of the Civil War anthem "Battle Hymn of the Republic". In full: "My Dear Sir: In the accompanying mss. I have done my best to give you the sketch that you asked for. I shall be glad to learn that on reading it you have found it suitable for the Century Magazine...." In fine condition, with usual mailing folds and a stain on the left edge.
