John Parker Hale (1806-73) was an unsuccessful candidate for President of the United States on the Free Soil ticket in 1852, losing to Franklin Pierce. He was an American politician and lawyer from New Hampshire. He served in the United States House of Representatives from 1843 to 1845, in the U.S. Senate during the U.S. Civil War, and was a strong anti-slavery activist.
