HE MADE IMPORTANT CONTIBUTIONS IN MANY AREAS OF PHYSICS, INCLUDING QUANTUM THEORY, THE THEORY OF RADIATION, STELLAR EVOLUTION, AND IS ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF BRITISH COSMOLOGY. ONE OF HIS MAJOR DISCOVERIES, CALLED JEANS LENGTH, IS A CRITICAL RADIUS OF AN INTERSTELLAR CLOUD IN SPACE
