In fine condition, with age toning and a few stains, small marginal tear upper right, mounting residue on reverse.
Howard Crosby (1826-91) was a Presbyterian preacher at the New York City Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church, scholar, author, and chancellor of New York University of 1870. An American reviser of the English New Testament, Crosby wrote many influential books about political and religious affairs based on his Presbyterian views including The Lands of the Moslem (1851), Jesus: His Life and Works (1871), and True Temperance Reform (1879). Furthermore, he served as president of the American Philological Association in 1871.
