ENGLISH BONE SURGEON SENDS A HANDWRITTEN QUOTE THAT “…MAKES NO BONES ABOUT IT!”
SIR HERBERT ATKINSON BARKER (1869-1950) SIGNED QUOTE, “H. A. Barker”, on a card 4.25 x 3.5, by the English manipulative surgeon who developed a highly successful technique, specializing in knee and other damaged joints both in the top sportsmen and the general public. He advocated the avoidance of surgery. However his methods were never formally approved by the medical establishment. He also was an advocate for the curative powers of the waters at Montego Bay, Jamaica and wrote many articles promoting it. He wrote Leaves from my Life: Reminiscences by the Famous Manipulative Surgeon (1927). His handwritten quote is difficult to read: “I spin my …for you with very great pleasure and make no bones about it!” The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
