HENRI FARMAN (1874-1958) HANDWRITTEN QUOTE SIGNED, “H. Farman”, on a card 4 x 3.5, [Paris, October 31, 1920 in another hand, lower left], by the Anglo-French aviation pioneer, aircraft designer, and manufacturer. Before dedicating himself to aviation he gained fame in cycling and motor racing. He later built a highly successful and innovative aircraft manufacturing plant that produced a model that was used extensively for artillery observations and reconnaissance during WWI. The Farman Aircraft Company’s Goliath was the first long-distance passenger airliner, beginning regular Paris-London flights on 8 February 1919. Farman’s quote in French, loosely translated: “…will be the mistress of the world in a few years.” In this quote we think he might be talking about his plane manufacturing company or his airline. In fine condition, with minor age toning.
