FRANCIS ROBINSON SENDS A HELEN TRAUBEL PHOTO TO FANS
HELEN TRAUBEL (1899-1972) SIGNED PHOTO, "To Jane and Olin West, Best Wishes Helen Traubel", stunning 8 x 10, b/w, close up John Alfred Piver portrait, of NY Metropolitan Opera soprano, TV, Broadway, Film star, best known for her Wagnerian roles, especially those of Brunnhilde and Isolde. She later developed a career in radio, television, nightclubs, Broadway and films. Comes with the original "Metropolitan Opera Association, Inc." mailing envelope, showing it was "From: Francis Robinson", who at the time was "Press Representative" for the Met. He went on to spend more than thirty years at the Metropolitan Opera where he served variously as tour director, assistant manager, press representative, and host of Saturday afternoon broadcasts from the Met. There are various credit stamps on the reverse acknowledging the photographer, Ms. Traubels agents, and the Metropolitan Opera. Both items are in good condition with light silvering: she started to sign in red ink but stopped, probably a problem with her pen, and traced over the inscription in black ink, and boldly signed in black ink.
