McLane, 17 August 1886. The recipient has made a notation below "President Cleveland from a private letter to...." The signature of the President and the Minister are in fine condition. Comes with a 1901 color reproduction of Cleveland's portrait.
President Stephen Grover Cleveland (1837-1908) served as the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. He is the first and so far the only President in American history to serve two non-consecutive terms in office. His crusade for political reform and fiscal conservatism made him an icon for American conservatives of the era.
