JUST A FEW SHORT MONTHS BEFORE HIS DEATH, THE AMERICAN PIANIST AND COMPOSER, GEORGE GERSHWIN, AT THE PIANO PERFORMING A SUITE FROM THE OPERA “PORGY AND BESS” INCLUDING “SUMMERTIME”, “I GOT PLENTY OF NUTTIN”, THE DUET “BESS, YOU IS MY WOMAN NOW”, “GOOD MAWNIN SISTUH”, AND “OH LORD, I’M ON MY WAY”. THEN HE CLOSED THE PROGRAM PERFORMING HIS “RHAPSODY IN BLUE”.
GEORGE GERSHWIN (1898-1937) SIGNED PROGRAM, “Sincerely George Gershwin”, 6 x 11, Seattle Symphony Orchestra presenting George Gershwin: “The Composer at the Piano”, December 15, 1936 (just a few months before his death), performing a Suite from the Opera “Porgy and Bess” and his “Rhapsody in Blue”. It comes with vintage sheet music from “Porgy and Bess” and a matte-finish 5 x 6.5 photograph of Gershwin at the piano. All three items are in fine condition and would make a stunning ensemble presentation.
