SIR GEORGE HOWARD DARWIN (1845-1912) SIGNED CARD, “G. H. Darwin”, on a card 3 x 3, by the English barrister, astronomer, mathematician, geologist, author, and son of Charles Darwin. Dated, in another hand, June 9, 07 at bottom left. In 1883 he became Plumian Professor of Astronomy and Experimental Philosophy at the University of Cambridge. He studied tidal forces involving the sun, moon, and earth, formulated the Fission Theory of moon formation, and published The Tides, and Kindred Phenomena in the Solar System (1899). He was also President of the Royal Astronomical Society and Fellow of the Royal Society. The signed card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
