GENERAL GEORGE ARMSTRONG CUSTER (1839-76) HAND-SIGNED ENVELOPE CUT, "Gen Custer/Monroe Michigan", 4 x 3, bearing affixed three-cent postage stamp and postmarked New York, March 30, no year, by the United States Army Officer and Cavalry Commander in the American Civil War and American Indian Wars. He was present at General Robert E. Lee's surrender to General Ulysses S. Grant on April 9, 1865. He was killed with all his men, including two of his brothers, at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in Montana Territory, June 25, 1876. This hand-signed historic rarity is in very good condition with expected areas of paper loss on right side from handling and opening.
