Françoise Gilot
(born 26 November 1921) a French painter, critic, gifted poet, and bestselling author.  is also known as the lover and artistic muse of Pablo Picasso from 1943 to 1953, and the mother of their two children, Claude and Paloma. She later married the American vaccine pioneer Jonas Salk

At the age of 21 she met Picasso. Although Picasso had influenced Françoise Gilot's work as a cubist painter, she developed her own style. She avoided the sharp edges and angular forms that Picasso sometimes used. Instead, she used organic figures. Her work is internationally acclaimed. She also worked with Matisse during this time and from 1951 has held one-woman shows in every major gallery in the world.
