Eugene Conley (1908-1981) made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1950, in the title role of Faust, and appeared with the Met many times until 1956. He also appeared with the Opera-Comique in Paris, the Tatro alla Scala in Milan (opposite Maria Callas), and Covent Garden in London. Conley was artist-in-residence at the University of North Texas College of Music from 1960 until his retirement in 1978.
