HIS PIONEERING WORK IN THE MEASUREMENT OF RADIATION EXPANDED THE FRONTIERS OF KNOWLEDGE AT THE END OF THE 19TH CENTURY AND HE WAS AWARDED THE RUMFORD PRIZE BY THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES IN 1905 FOR HIS PROOF THAT LIGHT EXERTS PRESSURE

ERNEST FOX NICHOLS (1869-1924) NOTE SIGNED, “Ernest Fox Nichols”, on a card 4 x 3, Cleveland, Nov. 12, 1922, by the American physicist and educator, who was 10th president of Dartmouth College (1909-16) during which time he is credited with the establishment of many of the colleges cherished institutions and traditions; and he was briefly president of MIT, a brief tenure due to his heart disease. His handwritten note, in full: Complying with Mr. Cole’s request.” The card is in fine condition, with minor age toning.
