In Full: "My Dear Shawe (probably Col. Merrick Shawe who served with him in India). If you are disengaged Feb 8th to 15th - I shall be happy to see you at Stratfield Saye (his recently acquired country home), and I will endeavor to give you some sport (the Duke loved hunting and shooting more for the fresh air and exercise than for the sport itself). Ever Your's...." Comes with a vintage engraved portrait. Some mounting remnants on reverse not affecting the front and light foxing at top, otherwise in fine condition.
