Charles L. "Lewis Carroll" Dodgson (1832-98) Signed Slip, "C. L. Dodgson", on an off-white 2.75 x .75 slip, purple ink, mounted to a larger acid-free card, better known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, was an English writer of children's fiction, notably Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass (1871). He was noted for his facility at word play, logic, and fantasy. The poems Jabberwocky and The Hunting of the Snark (1876) are classified in the genre of literary nonsense. He was also a mathematician (he authored Euclid and His Modern Rivals in 1879), photographer, inventor and Anglican deacon. In fine condition, with a tiny notation upper right corner that could be matted out.
