$115.00

Description

CHARLES E. TRIPLER (1849-1906) SIGNED QUOTE, “Charles E. Tripler”, on a card 4 x 2.5, American inventor and scientist who developed an inexpensive way to produce liquid air and in the late 19th century proceeded to promote its use in refrigeration, air conditioning, in medicine and surgery, military explosives, and as a fuel for ships. He traveled the country selling tickets to public demonstrations/lectures and at one point in 1899 his “perpetual motion machine” was lauded in an article in McClures Magazine and when a couple of scientist made repeated appointments to see the machine, the time proved “not to be convenient” for Tripler. His handwritten quote, in full: “-312 below zero”, which refers to the temperature of liquid air. The boldly signed full signature card is in fine condition.
