BUD FISHER INSCRIPTION AND SIGNATURE, " Oowah Charlie! Bud Fisher", on off-white 3 x 2.25 card, by cartoonist who created Mutt and Jeff, generally considered the first regular comic strip. Accompanied by vintage sheet music for his play "For the Love of Mike", which shows his image and a cast of his cartoon characters. Other than some minor mounting marks, both in fine condition.
Bud Fisher (1885-1954) was a cartoonist at the San Francisco Chronicle who became wealthy from his copyrighted and syndicated comic strip, that he began in 1907, and the sale of his characters. Mutt and Jeff was the first successful comic strip and the first comic strip artist to make a fortune off of comic strips.
